Paul became a part of our lives as soon as my older sister, Lindsey, began her relationship with my now brother-in-law, Corey. It is honestly remarkable how fast Paul and Roberta became a part of our family, and us a part of theirs.
We have so many special memories of Paul- from numerous Grin events, to Lindsey and Corey's wedding celebrations, to Cape Cod summers- it was always such an absolute pleasure to chat with Paul about anything under the sun.
Visiting Paul and Roberta in the Summer on Cape Cod became a very highly anticipated tradition for me, my sister Alex, our partners, and of course Lindsey and Corey. One year we were also able to meet Corey's brother, Jacob, and his partner, Glynis. (Who also immediately felt like our family). It was something we so truly looked forward to. The clamming was always such a fun and interesting experience, but the best part was spending time with Paul and Roberta afterward when Roberta would make us lunch and we would all hang out (including Blue!) and have drinks together at their house, still all very smelly and covered in clam water. We really enjoyed hearing Paul tell stories and talk about projects they had going on. My sister Alex was very quickly dubbed "the clam whisperer" by Paul, something we would always laugh about. Paul and Roberta would also come to Dennisport to visit us on the Grove where we stay in the Summer, and my dad, Billy, and stepmom, Kris, would have a big gathering on the beach.
One year Lindsey and Corey had a special gallery event in NYC where we lived at the time. Paul and Roberta along with my mom, Jeri, and stepdad, Vince, all came to visit. We explored and had amazing meals around the city. We also did a Catacombs tour, and then afterward went to eat at The Tenbells in the Lower East Side. One of all of our favorite places. It was so much fun.
Paul and Roberta recently came to Atlanta to visit Corey and Lindsey, and because we also recently moved there we were (without question) invited to dinners and get-togethers during their visit. They also came over to see our house and meet Birdie, our dog.
I can honestly say I have never met someone who went so out of their way to make us feel like family. I know my sister Alex and her partner Jay feel the exact same way. Paul was so easy to talk to, and he was always so incredibly understanding and non-judgemental. He was truly such a pleasure to be around and spend time with. He really touched our lives and we were so lucky to have known him.
All of our love,
Taylor Stapleton & Nick Miller
